How audit-ready is
your safety program?

Thirteen quick questions, about two minutes. See which of the 13 COR elements you already have covered, which are gaps, and which documents close each one.

Check your COR readiness.

Used only to add the right certifying-partner notes to your report.

For each element answer Yes if it is written down, in use, and you could show records; Partly if something exists but it is informal, out of date, or has no records; No if nothing is in place.

Your readiness

of 13 elements in place

This is a self-check against the national 13-element framework, not an audit score. It can't tell you whether you would pass.

For every gap: what to have ready for an audit, the exact documents that cover it, a suggested order to tackle them, and how much record history your certifying partner expects.

The COR kit is the written program a COR audit looks for: 18 editable Word documents cited to the OHS Regulation, plus a bonus audit quick reference. It is not certification — you still need an audit through your certifying partner.

A readiness check, not an audit.

    • The 13 elements. They follow the national COR framework: policy, hazard assessment, safe work practices, safe job procedures, company rules, PPE, preventive maintenance, training and communication, inspections, investigations, emergency preparedness, statistics and records, and legislation.
    • Partners differ. Each certifying partner publishes its own audit tool and the element lists are not identical (Energy Safety Canada, for example, uses 10). Check yours before you start; the written-program content overlaps heavily.
    • Documents are half of it. Auditors look for records that show the system has been running, not just papers. BCCSA says at least 6 months of supporting evidence, with 12 months recommended; the BC Forest Safety Council reviews the 12 months before an audit.
    • Many fixes are free. Several of the documents behind these elements are free downloads. The report tells you which are free and which are only in the kit.

Before you rely on the result.

Is this my COR audit score?

No. It's a quick self-check based only on your answers. Certifying partners score audits with their own tools, which also check interviews and observation, so this can't predict a pass or fail.

How is the result worked out?

Each element counts 2 for Yes, 1 for Partly and 0 for No. The headline is how many elements you answered Yes to, with your partly-covered and missing elements listed in a suggested order: foundations like the policy and hazard assessment first.

Do I need to buy anything to close a gap?

Not necessarily. The report marks which documents are free templates and which are only in the COR kit. Several elements can be covered with free downloads.

What do you do with my email?

We email you the report. If you tick the box we'll also send a few short COR-readiness emails, and you can unsubscribe any time. We store your email, your answers and your industry. See the privacy policy.
